Corfu Arrival and Information

Ferries and hydrofoils to and from Italy, the mainland (Igoumenítsa and Pátra) and Pax?dock at the New Port (Néo Limáni) west of the Néo Froúrio (New Fort). The Old Port (Pale?Limáni), east of the New Port, is used for day-excursions. Most of the ferry offices are on the main road opposite the New Port; ferries to Italy or south towards Pátra become very busy in summer and booking is advisable. The port authority (tel 06610/32 655) can advise on services.

The airport is 2km south of the city centre. There are no airport buses, although local blue buses #5 and #6 can be flagged at the junction where the airport approach meets the main road (500m). It's a thirty-minute walk on flat terrain into town (follow the road running beside the Hotel Bretagne opposite the junction for the shortest route or turn right then follow the sea road). Taxis charge around ?6 (but agree the fare in advance) or phone 06610/33 811 for a radio cab.

The tourist office (Mon-Fri 8am-2pm; tel 06610/37 520) on the corner of Vouleftón and Mantzárou has accommodation and transport details. The post office is on the corner of Alexándhras and Zafiropoúlou (Mon-Fri 7.30am-8pm). Of the town's several internet cafés, the best value are Recorder , P. Konstand?1 (Mon-Sat 9am-2pm & 6-11pm; tel 06610/46 549), just off Platía San Rocco, and Hobby Net , Solomo?32 (daily 10am-11pm; tel 06610/44 475), near the Old Port.
